Plant Pot Sizes: The Complete Guide - Gardening Tips, Advice Plant Pot Sizes: The Complete Guide - Gardening Tips, Advice

Airpot containers come in a huge range of sizes, so we can provide really large trees for sale or you can grow a tree in a larger pot at home. Most plant pot sizes are measured in litres, which is a measure of volume, calculated from a shape’s cubic centimetres. A cylinder’s cubic centimetres is calculated from the equation πr 2h. Thus to calculate you plant pots literage, you need to measure your pot’s height and radius with a ruler. If your plant pot isn’t an exact cylinder, but a flat-topped cone, it is best to approximate calculating a cylinder. Across is a photograph of one of our biggest selling species, in various pot sizes. From left to right the plants are in 2L, 3L, 4L, 5L and 10L pots. Air Pots are widely used by a variety of vegetable growers, tree nurseries and other well respected horticultural establishments across the globe. One particular pot size may seem very competitive in comparison to another, but this does not mean you are getting better value. Some nurseries set up complicated irrigation and fertiliser systems ensuring trees receive the best possible nutrients, while others do not go to such lengths. Now you have calculated the cubic centimetres of you pot, simply divide by a thousand to arrive at litres. The standard size for 1-3 year old trees. Trees are transferred into this larger pot size, either from the ground or 3L pots. Different nurseries sell their plants at different stages of growth and use different size pots. This increases the number of pot sizes on the market. As you can see, the bushiness of the plant increases with the pot size and although the ones in larger pots are more expensive you don't need as many of them to fill the space (so sometimes plants in big pots work out cheaper than a higher quantity of plants in small pots), plus you also have the benefit of a fairly bushy immediate effect

Thus a tree may start out in the ground, before being transferred to a 9L and then a 15L, and so on. A nursery may start out with 300 trees and sell 150 bare root, 100 9Ls and 50 15Ls. Although, not all nurseries do this. Thus a tree may remain in a pot it was initially transferred to. Use the green screw(s) to hold the pot together. Place a few rows in from the top and bottom of the point, ensureing they hold the bits of plastic that overlap together. Comparing plant pot sizes is difficult as they vary in shape by manufacturer. At small sizes plant pots are flat-topped cones, while larger sizes are more structurally stable cylinders. This is why we recommend you calculate a pot’s litreage yourself. We grow in Air-pots at the nursery and can supply a range of sizes up to 100L. If you would like a larger size, please do get in touch. We would never grow a Eucalyptus tree in anything else (other than the ground!), and wouldn’t recommend you do either. This is not some latest gardening fad sales-pitch, we’ve done the research in traditional round pots and thrown away the dead trees for you!The long edges form the top and bottom rims of the pot. The diagonal cut edges overlap to form a seal – a bit like unfirling a cardboard loo roll tube. You could practice joining the diagonal edges together now.
